Being a first-generation college student can be a hassle. This blog takes a look at the struggles of being a first-generation college student and tips to overcome the stress; challenging yourself and being a pro at it as well. It will also be a platform to share our stories and help other first-geners overcome the stress of our title, first-generation college student.
Margaret Baah is a first-generation college student from Ghana. Starting college was hectic because my parents could not help me through. I had to pull through on my own and ask questions. Now I have two sisters in college who come to me almost every day with one question or the other because they expect me to know. It brings up the question of how different my freshman would be like if I had a sibling already in college or had an idea of how to cope as first year first-generation college student.
